The RG210 diamond wedding band from Kaisilver, is just one the many possible options for a pair of wedding bands. What exactly do we mean by a wedding band pair, here is the simple explanation. Wedding rings are traditional jewels with deep meaning and significance. While style and fashion have been incorporated into the design concepts of thousands of wedding rings, the underlying purpose or objective of wearing a wedding ring remains the same. In most cases, the husband and wife wear wedding rings. It is not very rare for men to wear just one ring for the engagement and wedding. This is something that was seen during the 2011 royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
A pair of wedding bands take the significance of wedding rings a bit further. With this tradition, the husband and wife wear wedding bands that are similar in design concept. It must however be clarified that, wedding band pairs do not imply two rings that are exactly identical in all respects. For example, the band width, ring size and even gems or diamonds in the two rings might differ. When selecting a band ring to be made into a pair of wedding band rings, you need to give attention to the design. The design cannot be too feminine or too masculine, the reason is obvious. The husband might not want to wear a wedding band that appears delicate and dainty. Similarly the wife might not fancy wearing a wedding band ring that is bulky and loud.
What we are going to talk about in this report is related to the band width of each ring in a pair of wedding bands. Give another look to the 210 white gold diamond wedding band from Kaisilver in the above image. The size of the diamond and the band width of the ring are almost the same. With this measurement, a diamond or gemstone size of around 4mm would yield a band width of around 5mm. Now let us presume that you wanted a pair of wedding bands with this same design. Presuming that you stayed with diamonds, a modest price would get you a 4mm diamond. The price of diamonds moves up quite sharply when you move from 4mm round (0.20 to 0.22 carats) to 5mm round (0.45 to 0.52 carats).
So what if you wanted to limit yourself to 4mm round diamonds for the lady's and gent's wedding band but, wanted the mens ring to have a wider band width. This requirement might be tough to fulfill if you were shopping at a jewelry store but, is a simple task if you opt for a pair of custom made wedding band rings. Alter the design a bit, have the diamond in the center of the band width. It could be set with prongs or a bezel setting. For the ladys wedding band ring, keep the 4mm diamond in the center and allow about half mm on the top and bottom. This would give you a 5mm band width for the diamond band ring. For the gents wedding band, retain the diamond size at 4mm but, keep a 1.5mm band portion above and below the diamond. You will end up with a 7mm band width, a similar adjustment can get you an impressive 8mm band width too.
The method we have just explained to adjust band width according to diamond size applies to other gemstones too. If your pair of wedding band rings use gems other than diamonds, the options are more. For example, a pair of yellow or white gold ruby wedding bands can have a 5mm round ruby for the lady's ring and a 7mm round ruby for the mens ring. The band width would be proportionally adjusted to fit the gemstone size. The price of some gems jumps quickly as the gem size (carat size) increases. This means that you need to consider the gemstone and your budget when selecting specific dimensions for a pair of wedding band rings.
The reason for adjusting the band width for your wedding band might not always relate to the gemstone. This is more true when it comes to 14k or 18k gold wedding band rings. Gold prices have made jewelry price tags very sensitive to metal weight. The metal weight needs to be proportional to the ring size and dimensions. Trying to save on gold weight might get you a cheap ring initially but, this would be a weak ring that can bend and dent easily. You end up paying expensive and frequent repair bills, and also ruining your ring. A better thing would be to reduce the dimensions of a wedding band, this in turn reduces the gold weight required. In the case of band rings, you will need to play with the band width option - the ring size ofcourse remains as required. This is one other reason why you should go for a pair of custom wedding band rings rather, than pick a readymade set off the shelf.
